ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Aubrie Schmidt (varsity golf) and Trevor Cvitkovich (varsity football)
Aubrie competed in her first year on the golf team and worked diligently all year to improve her skills. Her first and last matches were played on the same course, The Quest in Houghton Lake, and she had an impressive -21 stroke difference in the two rounds. Keep up the hard work!
Trevor is our center on the offensive line and one of our inside linebackers on defense, two very challenging positions. He plays them both very well but perhaps his biggest asset is his leadership on the team. His teammates look up to him and he's always trying to get them going in games and practice. He is a very valuable component to our team and we are lucky to have him.

Varsity football blanked Cheboygan 42-0 Friday night. Ethan Kucharek was 10/16, passing for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Huspen had 11 carries for 152 yards and two touchdowns. ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Jaden Cottrell (JV volleyball) and Tristan Demlow (Cross Country)
"Coach" Jaden always has a great attitude and loves the game. She works hard on the court as one of our left side players, but also helps pump up our team when we need it. Last week's pep talk before our game helped us score 23 points against Kalkaska in our first game. She not only cheers on her teammates, but goes to the other home JV and varsity games to cheer them on, as well, when we aren't playing. Thank you Jaden for all you do!
Tristan has led the Grayling Vikings varsity cross country team this season. Last week, he placed 36th at the Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational with a 5K finish time of 17:00. Great job, Tristan!

GHS took a step back in time yesterday for Throwback Day!

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Lahken Forbes (sideline cheer) and Preston Schenk (JV soccer)
Lahken is a dedicated athlete who soaks up knowledge. She had a slow start to the season due to an injury, but as she regains strength, she proves to be a versatile cheerleader. Lahken is a gentle soul with endless respect for her team and coaches. We can't wait to see what this freshman does in the next three years.
Preston scored a goal and had an assist in the team's 7-0 victory over Clare last week. Preston has played center mid for most of the season and has seen some time on the varsity team as well.

The Homecoming spirit is going strong on Jersey Day!

Varsity soccer escaped with a 2-1 win against Boyne City Monday. Mitchel Harrington scored 2 goals to bring his season total to 42. That ties the school record for goals in a season. Alex Moore and Leonardo Bertoncello had assists. Mitchel will have a chance to break the record Tuesday as the team plays a big game against Harbor Springs at home at 5 p.m.
