The Homecoming spirit is going strong on Jersey Day!










Varsity soccer escaped with a 2-1 win against Boyne City Monday. Mitchel Harrington scored 2 goals to bring his season total to 42. That ties the school record for goals in a season. Alex Moore and Leonardo Bertoncello had assists. Mitchel will have a chance to break the record Tuesday as the team plays a big game against Harbor Springs at home at 5 p.m.

It's Homecoming Spirit Week at GHS! Today was Patriotic Day!

Varsity football fell to Kingsley 20-56 on Friday night. Ethan Kucharek was 10/18 in passing for 148 yards and a touchdown and also had four carries for 68 yards. Jake Huspen had 10 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown and Corbin Allen rushed for 46 yards on 4 carries and had a touchdown. Fletcher Quinlan hauled in two passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Trevor Cvitkovich had five tackles and 11 assists and Ryan Stade and Braiden Tuck each had five tackles and five assists.
Esport Club started competition last week and Smash Ultimate and Mario Kart each scored a victory in the first rounds of the regular season!
Congratulations to the GHS RoboVikes on the 4th place alliance finish at the Ferris Robotics Day!

Varsity girls golf competed in the conference championship at Twin Birch Golf Course yesterday and did great! Jessica Campbell finished in 5th place and earned All-Conference Honors!

JV football lost in a shootout 36-44 to Kingsley last night. The game came down to the last possession. Coach K is proud of the fight the Vikings had!

Varsity soccer traveled to Clare and came home with a 2-0 shutout win Wednesday night. Ben Gardiner and Mitchel Harrington each scored a goal. Jacob Marshall and Leonardo Bertoncello each had an assist. Jordan Peters made 7 saves. The team is now 14-4 and plays at home on Monday, October 2 against Boyne City.

JV soccer beat Clare 7-0 Wednesday night. Leonardo Bertoncello and Justin Palmer had 2 goals each. Brody Cobb, Owen Brinks and Preston Schenk each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Brett Peterson had 1 assist. The JV team is now 3-3 on the season.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Kendra Allen (volleyball) and Myles Mead (football)
Kendra has been working hard this season to improve her skills to go with her natural talent. She is versatile, playing both front and back row on the left side. Last week, against Elk Rapids, she had 4 aces, 7 kills and 1 assist. What stood out the most was her excellent defense with 6 digs. Congrats, Kendra!
Myles was 11/15 and threw for 107 yards and 2 TDs against Escanaba. We run a very complex offensive system and Myles is our general!

Varsity soccer lost a closely contested game with Elk Rapids Monday night 3-2. The team held a 2-1 lead late in the second half but couldn't hold on to the lead. Mitchel Harrington scored his 38th and 39th goals of the season leaving him 3 shy of the school record. Leonardo Bertoncello and Jacob Marshall each had an assist in the game. The team is now 13-4 and goes on the road Wednesday at Clare at 7 p.m.






JV soccer lost a close 2-1 game against Elk Rapids Wednesday night. Jackson Marshall scored the goal. The JV team is now 2-3 on the season and travels to Clare on Wednesday for a 5:00 game.
