ATHLETES OF THE WEEK Nico Triebold and Cole Smith (varsity track) Nico runs the second hardest race, the 800 meter. She has the best time as a freshman in school history with a time of 2:29.24, was all-region, all-conference honorable mention in the 800, and ends the season as the 7th ranked freshman in the state at D3. Cole runs the grueling 400 meter run which is really a sprint. The track team competed in the Gaylord Meet of Champs. This meet is invite-only and participants must have a qualifying time, height, or distance. Rylan Finstrom took first in shot and disc and tied the meet record in disc with a throw of 133’9”. Leo Bertoncello took first in the long jump and 3rd in the 100 meter. Varsity softball ended the regular season with a 20-11 record after a 9-0, 13-3 sweep of East Jordan Tuesday night. The team has sole possession of 2nd place in the LMC with a 9-3 conference record. Jessica Campbell pitched another near-perfect game last night, facing 19 batters in six innings and striking out 10. Campbell and Cali D'Amour were both 4 for 6 at the plate and Jillian Hartman went 4 for 7. The Vikings open district play at Kalkaska at noon on Saturday. #leadthecharge

Rylan Finstrom is first-team all-conference in shot and discus, breaking her school record again in discus with a throw of 148’. Kaleb Hall is first-team all-conference in discus and second-team all-conference in shot. Drew Moore is first-team all-conference in the 3200 meter. The golf team played the Nightmare Invitational on Wednesday and placed 13th out of 22 teams with a team score of 368. Bryce Malcolm and Gage Modert each shot a 91 and tied for 53rd place. With a 92, Gibsen Barnett took 61st. It was a crowded golf course with 130 total players - most of which were division 1 or division 2. Varsity softball swept St. Louis 6-3 and 14-4 last night. Jessica Campbell threw 10 strikeouts in game one to earn her 11th win of the season. Katie Kanary pitched game two and got her first complete game of the year. Cali D'Amour hit 5 for 6, including a homerun and three doubles and she racked up five RBI. Jillian Hartman hit her first high school bomb while going 3 for 6. Kanary was 2 for 4 and also hit a homer. #leadthecharge

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK Anna Wood (varsity softball) and Corbin Allen (varsity baseball) Anna went 11 for 13 at the plate last week. She had an insane defensive week at shortstop and was loud and proud in the dugout. Corbin has been on fire at the plate and on the mound. Varsity baseball took a doubleheader from Kalkaska Monday night, 2-1 and 6-4. Brodie Gross picked up the first win, throwing eight strikeouts, walking four, and giving up four hits and a run. Corbin Allen took the game two win with nine strikeouts, two walks, six hits and four runs. At the plate, Allen was 3 for 4 with a double and a triple. Gross hit 3 for 5 with a double. The golf team played in the Jim Glynn Rayder Invitational at the Belvedere Golf Club on Monday and placed 6th out of 15 teams with a team score of 366. Jimmy Calvin shot an 87 for 18th place. Alex Hager took 31st with a 92. Gibsen Barnett scored 93 to finish in 35th place. Bryce Malcolm had a 94 to take 38th. Calvin notched two birdies on his way to a top 20 finish while Barnett stepped up with a top 40 finish in his first career varsity start. The soccer team played Boyne City Monday night and, despite our girls battling hard, Boyne was able to get the win 6-1. Edie Boik had the goal off of a free kick. It was a long rocket of a shot over the head of the keeper. Emma Kuziel had 10 saves.
