About Us

Founded in 2012, Great Lakes Online Education provides professional educational guidance services for families and students looking for the best school opportunities.

All About the Student

Our goal is to not simply help families and students pick a curriculum that matches their educational needs but also to ensure their social and cultural environment needs are met. Ensuring students a well-rounded education is much more in-depth than decades past.

Through our virtual school, Great Lakes Online Education (GLOE) students can work from home, at one of our learning centers throughout Northern Michigan, or both.  Committed to academic excellence, self-discipline, and community, GLOE is a virtual school that believes each student is a unique individual with unique learning needs.

Student Backgrounds

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds: traditional schools, home school, or private school. Some of our students were successful academically; some were not in the traditional setting; however, we expect their common thread is a desire to work hard, learn, and achieve success.

Typical Experience

GLOE K12 students develop one-on-one relationship with our staff through many different means (email, video conference, telephone, or in-person).  We take the time to get to know our students and put additional support in place to ensure success.  Once enrolled, middle and high school students typically work on three to five classes at a time.  A typical student will complete 11 semester classes in a school year, although high-achieving students are encouraged to work ahead.

Classes are user-friendly and available 24 hours a day.  Families are encouraged to establish regular hours for schoolwork.  Students are more successful between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and when they work a minimum of four hours a day.
