Grayling High School is an award-winning northern Michigan school. With a 9-12 enrollment of around 470 students, GHS is a "perfect-sized" high school -- that is, we are big enough to offer diverse options yet small enough to give our students personalized attention.

The experienced staff at GHS is dedicated to creating positive relationships with students, families and the community. We strive to recognize students as individuals and to provide educational programs to fit their goals.

 And we have a lot to offer:

• Solid, rigorous and aligned core classes to prepare our students to be college and career ready.

• A rich variety of elective classes in varied subjects based on students' interests, including vocal & instrumental music, robotics, physical education, art, Spanish, yearbook, computer science, photography, construction trades, forensic biology, coding, drafting & AutoCAD.

• A number of advanced Placement® courses, including Biology, Chemistry, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Computer Science A, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, Psychology, European History, U.S. History, Statistics, Spanish Language & Culture and Spanish Literature & Culture.

• Partnerships with Wexford-Missaukee ISD, C.O.O.R. ISD and Kirtland Community College to provide our students with opportunities to develop their skills and interests in a variety of career, vocational and technical education programs. 

• A Chromebook for every student to use.

• Online classes.

• Co-curricular activities, including National Honor Society, theatre, Student Senate, band, choir, robotics, Student Voice & Leadership Committee, Grayling Viking Renaissance Program and fishing club.

• An extensive athletics program, including football, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, skiing, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, cross country and track.

• The Viking Pantry and Viking Wellness Center.

Our graduates have been accepted into top undergraduate and graduate schools throughout the country, including Brown University, Case Western Reserve University, Columbia University, Duke University, Grinnell College, Harvard University, Kenyon College, Rice University, Swarthmore College, University of Chicago, University of Florida, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, Vassar College and Yale University.

The current site of Grayling High School was established in 1973 and was renovated in 2004 and in 2017. We are on a trimester schedule, and our school days run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
