Judge Colin G. Hunter was nominated by Barbara Hunter.
After Colin graduated from Grayling High School, he earned a B.A. degree at Northern Michigan University -- with an English major and a criminal justice minor -- in 2004 and a J.D. degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2007.
He worked as a law clerk for the 46th Circuit Court from 2007 to 2009 and was an attorney with Bloomquist & Associates from 2009 to 2011 and with Carey & Jaskowski PLLC from 2011 to 2106. In November 2016 he was elected judge of the 46th Circuit Court, a position in which he currently serves.
Judge Hunter has served as president of the 46th Circuit Bar Association since 2010.
He has been a member of the Michigan Canoe Racing Association (MCRA) since 1995. He completed the AuSable River International Canoe Marathon 19 times, the General Clinton Canoe Regatta seven times and La Classique internationale de canots de la Mauricie once.
He was a board member of Riverhouse, Inc. from 2012 to 2016 and has been a board member of the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership since 2015.
His father, John Hunter, is a 1969 graduate of GHS and a fellow Hall of Fame member. His brother Andrew graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 1997 after attending CASD schools for 11 years, and his brother Eric graduated from GHS in 2003 -- as did his grandmother (Eleanor Gorman Hunter), an uncle, three aunts and numerous cousins.
He lives in Grayling with his wife, Kimberly (Hartman) Hunter, a fellow 2017 Hall of Fame inductee, and their two children.
