William J. Heath was nominated by James L. Kesseler and was represented at the induction ceremony by his wife Cheryl.
Bill graduated from Grayling High School in 1960. He then proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his four-year term throughout the Pacific Theater, including Japan. He graduated from Northwood University in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1980, he earned a master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Heath's career spanned over 20 years at Saginaw General Hospital (now Covenant) in several administrative positions, including president/CEO. He retired from Covenant Healthcare in 1999 as the executive vice-president/COO. He provided leadership in the medical community serving Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties through the largest hospital in the Tri-Cities. He was a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and he served his community as a member and director of many other civic and professional organizations and foundations.
He passed away at the age of 70 in 2012.
Bill’s positive attitude and outgoing personality made him loved by many. He always believed that it didn’t matter what you achieved in life; what mattered most was how you treated others.
