Steve graduated from Grayling High School in 1967. While attending GHS, he played on the varsity golf and basketball teams for four years and was named to the all-conference basketball team his junior year. He attended Boys’ State in the summer of 1966 and was active in forensics (he was a state finalist in extemporaneous speaking his junior year) and in the Drama Club, Student Council and the National Honor Society.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree with honors from Albion College in 1971. He then completed earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University’s school of law in two and a half years. He passed the bar exam in March 1974 and was admitted into the Michigan Bar Association in May of that year.

Mr. DuBois practiced law in Detroit until he moved to Gaylord in October 1975, and he has been in private practice there ever since. He has also been the city attorney for Gaylord since 1982. He is a member of the Michigan Defense Counsel, the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and the Michigan Association for Justice.

He and his wife Paddy have two children, two grandchildren and one grandchild on the way this spring.

He is the son of Dick and Ann DuBois, who were long-time Grayling residents. His brother Gary is a 1963 graduate of Grayling High School.
