Viking Activity Center (VAC) Update
Viking Activity Center
VAC Opens for Morning Walking

The Viking Activity Center opened in March of 2020. Just five days after it opened, districts across Michigan were shut down for the remainder of the school year. Since that time - because of COVID19 mitigation protocols and staffing shortages - we have been unable to open portions of the facility to community use. Beginning Monday, January 17th, we will begin offering limited use of the VAC Walking Track on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

General facility rules and information are detailed below. If you have additional questions please contact Grayling High School.

  • Access to the Viking Activity Center (VAC) track is at the entrance near the high school's main entrance (to the right of the flagpole).
  • Shoes must be changed upon entering the building. There is a bench area in the main VAC entrance. Shoes may be left in this area, beneath the bench. Only clean, dry shoes are permitted in the VAC. Only soft-soled, non-marking shoes are allowed on the walking track. Flip-flops, dress shoes, boots, etc. are not permitted. Shoes must be worn at all times. Coats may be hung over the railing in the mezzanine/turf area.
  • Appropriate clothing must be worn at all times when in the building.
  • Appropriate behavior is expected of all patrons.
  • Children are not permitted unless accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Children must stay with the adult at all times.
  • Outside food and drinks, with the exception of bottled water, are not permitted in the facility. Bottled water is allowed, but must be in a sealed, spill-proof plastic or metal container (no glass).
  • All CASD facilities are non-smoking facilities.
  • The schedule is subject to change.
  • The Crawford AuSable School District is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
  • Only the walking track area is accessible during these times. The main floor areas are not available for use. For additional information on facility usage options, please contact CASD Athletic Director Cailey Wagner at 344-3500.
  • If CASD schools are closed, the VAC/track is closed.
