  • Congratulations to Christopher Wells and Leigha Stevens on their first-division ratings at State Solo and Ensemble, March 24, 2007, at CMU.  Congratulations to Jonathon Lovely and Lacey Hollingsworth on their second-division rating at State Solo-Ensemble Festival.  Their fabulous accompanist was June Karjalainen, of Roscommon.

  • Look!  It works!  After a rebuild and having to check links that were not working, they finally work!

  • Christmas Concert efforts were great!  Thank you to the students for demonstrating your achievements and for the parents for your help to make the concert go very smoothly!

  • Thank you to Dawna Jarve for helping our band program through these times of change.  Your assistant has been truly appreciated.

  • December 11, 2006, is the first day in over 15 years the band program has one band director.  It was decided by administration that it will stay that way until spring.  In the spring, school funding will be reevaluated and possibly another round of interviews to hire the second band director.

  • Pictures are slowly being transferred to the new picture website, which has a link above. 
  • For those that have been inquiring about the Instrumental Music Teaching Position, the application deadline has past and the interviews have not started as of November 3, 2006.  We will keep you posted.
  • HS Honors Band Auditions at Charlevoix High School, Monday, November 6, 2006.  Bus leaves at 1:30 pm from Grayling High School.  Bus will return approximately 9:00 pm.  Students are responsible for their work from their class they will miss.
  • We have had three playing tests so far since marching band has completed.

  • The website will go through major reconstruction soon to rebuild the history of the past four years.
  • Congratulations on an outstanding performance at the Marching Expo at Thirlby Field in Traverse City. The band was very well received by the audience.

  • School server crashed during the summer.  Information was moved to a new server. Many links on old pages not working. Much time will be needed to put the past four years of history back together and keep moving on through the future events.

  • Marching Expo is October 9, 2006. The Grayling Viking Marching Band performs at 6:30 pm, at Thirlby Field, Traverse City. They will perform their "Cartoons" show.
  • This week:
    • Monday:  Final Run through of "Cartoons."  Load trailer.  Performance as described above.
    • Tuesday:  Watch video, fill out survey for planning of upcoming events.
    • Wednesday:  Start Concert Band!  Hand out equipment, work on chair placement/audition music/honors band music.
    • Thursday:  Continue working on learning the music through the use of section leaders.
