Ms.
LaVere’s
April News
Welcome back! I
hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break. It is hard to believe that there is
only 8 weeks until summer vacation. The year has gone by so fast. The next 8
weeks of school is going to be very busy and full of fun activities. We will be
learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, taking care of the environment,
plant needs and planning the end of the year activities.
Spring is here!!! Please be conscious of spring weather. It can change so
quickly. Just in the last few days we have seen snowflakes and now it is almost
60 degrees by the afternoon. Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately
for the weather.
I sent home school pictures just before spring break. You have the option of
purchasing these pictures. Prices are included in the packets. If you want
pictures, please send back the information along with the money. You can choose
to purchase all the pictures or just some of them. If you decide not to purchase
pictures, you will need to send back all of the pictures in the packet. A class
picture is provided later when the pictures have been returned.
March reading month was a wonderful success. Thank you to all of you that
completed the book-it and family challenge. Congratulations to Eliot for winning
a prize. Way to go!
During the month of April, your child will be learning a lot about recycling and
keeping the Earth clean. We will be participating in some activities that
promote a healthy, clean environment. It would be really neat if you sat down
with your child at home and wrote down things you do to recycle and keep our
environment a healthy, clean one. If you do not recycle, brainstorm ideas with
your child ways you could.
The date for the kindergarten concert will be Monday, April 30th at 2:15. The
concert will last approximately a half hour. Before the concert, at 1:45, you
are invited to come to the classroom for portfolio viewing. This is an
opportunity for your child to show his/her best work. In addition to their
portfolio, they will be sharing their writing journal, and beginning and end of
the year work. The children love this event and they get excited about sharing
their work with their families. An invitation will come home next week for this
event.
There is a lot going on in the next 8 weeks, so please make sure to look at the
calendar for all the latest events. If you have any questions please make sure
to contact me.
