Homework for the Week of 4/27/09 Addition page with the sum either being fifteen or twenty. We are practicing adding on by choosing the larger number and then counting up. For example: 3 + 2 = I would ask which number is large, 3 or 2. They would tell me the three. I would ask them how many more we would need to add to this number. They tell me the other number and I show that many on my hand if possible. We then count up that many times. So, I would start counting at three and then count up for the two fingers I would have up. (3, 4, 5.) I have also sent home a sh writing words worksheet. This just gives them additional practice recognizing, sounding out, and writing the words on the lines correctly. Things you can continually practice at home: I will accept any previous Math homelinks or Book-It forms. Book-it forms were sent monthly from October-March. Have your child read their little book they bring home weekly to you. This is the most important homework I assign. Continue working on reading and writing numbers 1-100. Continue counting from 1-100, backwards from 20-0, by 10's to 100, by 5's to 100 and by 2's to 30. Practice identifying the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. Talk about how much they are worth on a continual basis. Look for patterns all around you in your world! We are building 3 parts patterns now. We create color, size and shape patterns. Keep practicing our sight words. Click on the month below to see the words that your kindergartener should have mastered by then. January May
