campaign. Three-year varsity starting infielder, Alyssa Lewis, returns to the lineup in the lead-off spot. Alyssa scored a school record 30 runs last season for the Lady Vikes. She is a very versatile player with the ability to play multiple positions. The team will lean on her experience down the stretch. Other returning starters include Cayla Johnson, Kelsey Neuberger and Kirstie Wakeley. Cayla, a junior, has played several infield positions and has the ability to find holes in the defense when batting. Kelsey, also a junior, shares pitching duties and has one of the smoothest swings on the team. Kirstie joined the varsity team a few games into the 2008 season and has proved she belongs ever since. Leading the team in fielding percentage (.952) as a freshman, Wakeley is willing to sacrifice her body to make a play. The Lady Vikes will be participating in several camps in the upcoming months as well as weightroom workouts and open gym activities. The 2009 season officially begins on Monday, March 9th.
