The 2010 Lady Vikings will lean on their senior leadership this season as five seniors return with significant playing experience. Joni Bindschatel, Kelsey Neuberger and Cayla Johnson return for their fourth year of varsity softball. Makenna Harwood looks to build on a very successful offensive year as a junior. Moly Rinckey, a transfer from the Grand Rapids area, has been working hard to contribute for the Vikes. "This is a committed group, " says coach Keri Brock.
"From top to bottom, we have players that want to be successful. In fact, they crave it. Now it's just a matter of backing that desire up with the physical tools." Shalee Miller, Jordan Stephan, Teresa Schreiber and Kirstie Wakeley are all juniors returning from the 2009 squad that finished 10-18. Three sophomores return to the lineup. Kara Malm and Andrea Malm will see time on the mound and Elaine DesEnfants will split duties at first base. The Lady Vikings also have three newcomers this year. Juniors Katie Carney and Katie Lange are oufielders that will also share baserunning responsibilities. Caitlin Prosser, a freshman, will spend most of the time behind the plate. The Vikings hope to improve on their league record in 2010 and compete for a LMC title. The Vikings were able to use spring break to get some injured players healed and get people back to their natural positions. The team will kick the 2010 season into full gear agasint Roscommon, Tuesday, April 13th at home. The double-header will begin at 4:30 pm and concessions will be available.
