Paper Piecing

This is a time consuming technique but it is worth the work for the look. I have made cherries for my National Cherry Festival Pages and a lighthouse for a page that has set unfinished for years because I didn't know what paper piecing was when I first put the page together - just knew it needed a lighthouse! There are books with patterns and cds for the computer with patterns. I use a copy machine to enlarge the patterns from the book.

just cherries.jpg (20724 bytes) I cut two of each piece - one the color for the "picture" and a second slightly larger in black. Some patterns use outlining with black ink rather than the black paper. For this pattern I found patterned scraps in the right colors.
