2011 – 2012 Media Center Services

 
  • E-edition newspapers are available to students from Detroit News and the Traverse City Record Eagle. They just have to ask for a password and user ID.  Teachers have access to many educational resources offered through the E-news. 
  • Kindle E-books are now available for our Hero and Gold Card Members to check out.  Some restrictions apply and are discussed with students at check out time. 
  • Gold Stars – If a high school student enjoys one of the media center books they have read they are encouraged to add a GOLD Star to the inside book cover. (GOLD Stars are provided for them.)  Up to 5 stars per book can be accumulated to let other high school readers know that particular book is highly recommended by their peers.
  • Flip Video cameras – we now have 3 cameras for classroom projects.  Students can check out and use during the cameras during the day for their movie maker projects.
  • MeL - Michigan Electronic Library - FREE 
    Teachers, students and parents can find reliable, vetted resources for classroom projects, papers and instructions in the Michigan eLibrary, http://mel.org. MeL resources take the guess work out of whether a source is reliable or not. Plus, MeL resources focus on K-12 education, and are structured with educators in mind.

  • Ellison die cut outs – colored construction paper provided
  • Spiral Project Binder – various sizes
  • Colored printer – teacher approved projects
  • Pencil dispenser – 25 cents each
  • Video cameras for projects – Still photos/Digital Cassette/Digital Video with memory card 
  • Netbooks available for individual use as well a classrooms
  • DVD duplicator
  • Portable DVD Players
  • Portable CD Players
  • Scanners
Students have a self serve supply cupboard providing them with:
 
  • Calculators
  • Colored pencils
  • Glue sticks and paste
  • Graph paper
  • Lined paper

  • Scissors - various design cut outs
  • Stapler

RECYCLING bins are provided for paper, and ink cartridges.
