The college selection process
begins with you.
Start as soon as you possibly can. The more information you have,
the better choices you will make. Start by listing:
1. your strengths and weaknesses;
2. your interests, including academics,
co-curricular activities and hobbies;
3. your grades and test scores, including
academic and interest or vocational tests;
4. anything else that will give you a clear
picture of who you are and what you want (goals).
Then start collecting information on colleges.
The more informed you are, the
better prepared you are to select the college that is right for you. There
are many ways that you can gather the information you will need to make
your choice.
-
You may use the college guides and college catalogs
available in the Counseling Office (or if the catalog for a specific
college is not available, ask us to send for it) and video tapes
supplied by the colleges. Information is also available at www.bridges.com (see the Counseling Office for
an ID and password), www.careercruising.com,
and on other internet sites.
-

-
Juniors and seniors meet with college admissions
counselors and military personnel in the Counseling Office. Check the
daily announcements and this web page for dates and times, sign up and
then pick up a pass from the Counseling Office.
- Attend visitation/career days held at many colleges.
-
When you are sincerely interested in applying to a
college/university, make an appointment for you and your parents to
visit, talk to an admissions counselor and take a tour of the campus.
