Schedule changes – Mrs. Thompson will be available after school today for any students who need to see her. She needs to see the following seniors after school: Kyle Peters, William Ryan, James Minor, Destinee McLeod, Samantha Schmidt, Matt Townsend and Zach Trojanek.

 

PROM TICKETS – will be sold during lunches every day next week. Buy your tickets next week and be registered to win a tanning package from Hard Bodyz or Heads Up North. Tickets are $10 in advance or $20 at the door. Prom will take place at the Lakeside Comfort Inn and Suites in Houghton Lake on April 17.

 

Tryouts for the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team – start on Monday at 6:15 a.m. Remember to turn your clocks ahead on Sunday and to have your physicals turned in to the office or handed to Coach Cobb by Monday morning.

 

Softball Tryouts – will take place on Monday from 3:05 to 5:30 p.m. All players MUST have a physical turned in to the main office prior to practicing.  Also, team conditioning will take place after school today and tomorrow. All players should be dressed and meet outside Coach Brock's door at 3:05 p.m. There will be no open gym on Sunday due to team conditioning this week.

 

GIRLS’ TRACK – Bring clothes for indoor and outdoor practice on Monday. Meet in Coach Gariglio's room at 3:05 ready to practice. Practice will run until 4:30.

 

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT STUDENTS – $10 for shirts is due by March 19 to Melissa Kocefas or Mr. Hawes.

 

Would you like to design a t-shirt – for this year’s AuSable River Canoe Marathon? All artwork will be considered. Artwork must he turned into Mrs. Lucey in room C312 by April 30.

 

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A POLICE OFFICER? – Kiwanis and the American Legion are offering three free opportunities to go to the state police academy this summer. Go through the training just like the officers—you even get to drive a police car and fire a gun. Information and applications are available in the counseling office. The deadline to apply is March 31.

 

Morning Blend will begin again on Tuesday March 16 – Morning Blend meets Tuesday (girls), Wednesday (boys) and Thursday (Blend) at 7 a.m. Morning Blend is provided for students who either cannot fit choir into their schedule or would like an additional opportunity to sing.  Morning Blend is open to any dedicated student who can sing.

 

Students who will be attending Northwestern MI College – The W.R. Angell Scholarship for the Sciences and the Peta Williams Memorial Scholarship for Biology and Environmental Science applications are available now in the counseling office. 

 

SIGN UP IN THE OFFICE TO DONATE BLOOD – at the March 26 blood drive. You must be 17, 110 pounds, and not pregnant. You must have photo ID with you the day of the blood drive.

 

HEY GUYS – Reserve your Prom tux at J. Dap by March 20 and they will give our Prom committee 5% of your rental price.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITYVolunteers are needed to help at Kids’ Night Out on Friday, March 19. Set up will take place after school. The event runs from 5-8 p.m. and help will also be needed with clean up afterward. Anyone interested can sign up in the counseling office.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY – Volunteers are needed to work at the elementary school during Hoops for Hearts next Monday, Thursday and Friday. One volunteer will wear the Viking mascot suit. Since it is during the school day, you must complete a pre-arranged absence form and have approval from your parents and Ms. Boughner. See Yer Xiong or Ms. Forcier to sign up or for more information.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY – The Friends of the Library are holding a book sale and will need helping setting up and during the sale. The dates of service are March 16-20 and students can volunteer after school during the week or during the day on the weekend.
