ATTENTION, PARENTS:
Please be advised that we will no longer be able to deliver messages to students at the end of the day. If you need to get a message to your child, you must call the school prior to 2:45 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we do not have the staffing to deliver the large volume of messages that we are receiving right before students are dismissed. Welcome to our GE Web Page!
On behalf of the administration, faculty and staff of Grayling Elementary School, we welcome you to our 2010-11 web page. Our building, which is attached to AuSable Primary, serves students in the third, fourth and fifth grades.

Grayling Elementary first opened in 1964 as a K-6 building and was renovated in 1987 with a new library and three additional classrooms. In 1996 we received a new roof, mechanical system and energy improvements, and additional office and meeting room space. A new sign/message board was donated by the GE/AP parents' group in spring 1999. In 2007 our building underwent more improvements with energy efficient lights and heating and in August of 2008, we were presented with an Energy Efficiency Award.

The purpose of our web page is to tell parents about our teachers, classes, programs and activities. You will also find several teachers' web pages. Throughout the year, more pages and links will be added, so please visit often.

Our school day starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:18 p.m.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Welcome to Grayling Elementary School! As the parent of a student new to our district, I'm sure you will have many questions regarding your child's education and you will be given several items to assist you in the enrollment process. Likewise, as your child enters Grayling Elementary School, you will be asked to provide documentation necessary for enrollment. The following items must be presented before your child will be officially enrolled and allowed to begin school:

Birth certificate (child's name must match the legal name on the document and it must be an official copy)
Immunization record (immunizations must be current before beginning school)
Proof of residency ( driver's license, utility bill, rental receipt, etc. )
Proof of custody (required if child does not live with both parents)

If your child has received assistance with speech or special education or has any medical concerns that may affect his/her daily routine or ability to participate in specific activities, please notify us so we may take this into consideration when placing your child.

If you have any questions during the enrollment process or at any time throughout the year, please feel free to call our office, Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00 @ 989-344-3606.

How to get to Grayling Elementary

Grayling Elementary is located in the town of Grayling on Michigan Avenue. Grayling is about an hour east of Traverse City, 25 minutes south of gaylord, two hours northwest of Saginaw and two-and-a-half hours north of Lansing.

From the South (on I-75 North): Take the Exit 254 (I-75 BL/M-72) on the left toward downtown Grayling/Traverse City. At the second traffic light turn right onto Michigan Avenue. Grayling Elementary is eight blocks down on the right side of the street.
From the North (on I-75 South): Take Exit 254 (North Down River Road). Turn right onto North Down River Road. At the first intersection turn left. Grayling Elementary School is on the left immediately after the hospital.
